[ a voice in her head isn't much new to comment on beyond she's surprised how easy to comprehend it is. the last one was more like eldritch babble she'll likely never decipher, but mae's okay with that. the new setting will take a little bit of adjustment, and that's a lot less okay. a giant pumpkin seems kind of familiar enough to hole up in, though. feeling like a kid in a bouncy house, she slips in through the jack o'lantern's mouth and plops down.
the nice thing about the atmosphere is how much mae loves it. it's basically harfest, and the idea of having a second harfest in one year is too good. better yet: the pumpkin yields candy!! so this is a great time to... do harfesty things. like scaring people. very spooky.
look, the opportunity arose. mae's taking it. the moment she hears someone walking by, she jumps into action, hiding against the back of the pumpkin's inside. ]
Halt, thee!!!
[ that's not how that works. there's a voice coming from the inside of the pumpkin's mouth, a deep voice (mae's just trying to sound tough) with a bit of a hiss, and there's... no one in sight...?! ]
Who approaches the Great Pumpkin? Speak, and I may spareth thee!
[ this is fine. it's fine. ]

[ so.
mae has gotten an army of skeletons following her like a school of baby ducks. ]
My family!
[ this is not her family. mae is a cat. who cares. ]
You think they'll dance if I do? They're following me, so...
[ she's thinking how cool it'd be. she can't help it. ]
mini game break
[ the feast is pretty cool. the party atmosphere is not, but that's cool. mae can like, ignore that. parties are for people without nightmare eyes, which she is not. mae thinks of pumpkin pierogies from her favorite little subway stand so hard that they appear. cool. that's fine. very spooky which is harfesty.
so the next thing she does is toss her pierogie in the air so she can catch it in her mouth. it goes well two times, but the third time...
smacks you in the face!!! ah jeez. mae looks in your direction, blinks, and then continues.
well. ]
