follow up question! if merlin offered to use his astoria given power of amplification on a few of the mermaids who are trying to melt it away so they'd have a temporary magic boost, 1. would they be open to this offer and 2. if they are, would it allow them to have any impact? (i suspect not for Plot Reasons but he'd ICly want to try)
