If there are animals, I may as well consolidate: for his actual chit-chat, Will would be interested in any gossip (do animals have gossip? maybe pets?), animals who would know a good source of water, and maybe any animals who have been inside the palace.

Unrelated to animals, the little pickpocket kids — are they open to being bought some food by a well meaning adult? Will would be interested in helping them though he's hoping more for an Aladdin street rat situation than an Oliver Twist gang.
