He'd learn that most of the slums/poorer areas of the city are incredibly suspicious and unhappy with the crown. The Previous king, King Kallathor (Kathashun's father), was a tyrant, and extremely harsh on most of the city. His economic practices put a lot of stress on most of the citizens of El Minha. While the city does have hope where it concerns Kathashun, they are very wary and are untrusting of the crown and anyone living in the Palace.
The Syndicate, to most of those kids, are something like heroes. They keep to the shadows, constantly avoid the Crown's Guard, and provide aid to the worst parts of the city. While every kid that Akira might talk to says that they love the Syndicate, they would never be able to name or point out anyone who directly is part of it, whether it's loyalty or actually not being able to point them out. They would be able to tell him that The Champion is 'friends' with the Syndicate for sure.
He will also probably hear some of the kids mention how things in the city have gotten very, very tense lately. They don't really know why, or what's going to happy, but it feels different.
