GAME HMD #3.

game hmd.
REVIEW THE PREVIOUS HMD to refresh or followup.

Hi, everyone! After receiving great feedback and suggestions from our playerbase, we decided to institute a regular Game HMD. This is intended to give the modteam feedback about the game as it runs. We also plan on posting a Game HMD at the end of every world jump, to gain specific feedback about the world itself.

That doesn’t mean your criticism has to be focused on the world jump! If you see something about Acatalepsy that needs improvement but doesn’t necessarily have to do with our world jump, you can also bring it up it here.

Please note, this is not the space to leave private player complaints-- comments here are going to be screened temporarily and will then be made public to the entirety of the game. If you have a complaint that you want to remain private with the modteam, please visit our mod contact. Those comments remain screened permanently and will remain private.

Here are a few points the modteam would really love feedback on! This is not an exhaustive list, so if we don't mention it here and you want to talk to us about it, please do!
➜ Game Mechanics: We always love suggestions on game mechanics themselves-- such as world interactions, plotting posts, and the structure of the logs, etc.

In response to feedback from our last Game HMD, we continued our method of how we wrote our OOC plot posts to make directions clearer with:
➜ Quick links to the sign-ups in the posts.
➜ More bullet-points to summarize information.
➜ More top-level opportunities for sign-ups.
Did we incorporate your feedback in a meaningful way? Have you thought of something new you want to incorporate?

➜ Player Interactions/Engagement: We would love to hear suggestions on how to better serve the playerbase in terms of interaction and engagement. What would make threading in Acatalepsy more engaging? What about the current game structure is exciting, or frustrating, to you? Do you find yourself able to interact with the world jumps, or do you struggle with how to get involved?
➜ In Faerun, we created a task board and changed how "winning" Faerun would be, to lessen on conflict and encourage more lowkey interactions to affect the setting. Was that successful for you?
➜ The World: What about Faerun did you like, or not like? What would you suggest we had done differently? Additionally, if you were present during El Minha (World #1), Struxta (World #2), Akvos (World #3), or the Horologium (World #4), what did you like or not like about those worlds? What do you like or dislike about them in comparison to Faerun?

➜ Pacing: In response to our last game HMD, we kept the length of your stay in Faerun roughly the same, but lessened the load on "dramatic happenstance" that happens! The Circle clearly needed a break, and while we do have a roadmap for how things are progressing in Acatalepsy, we definitely heard you on wanting something a bit less chaotic and a bit more fun. Did this time frame work for the world? Did you have enough to do?

➜ The Game Writ-Large: What else would you like to see Acatalepsy incorporate? What are we missing? What would you like to see?
Again, this isn’t an exhaustive list! This is simply what the modteam brainstormed. If you have other interests or priorities, please drop a line and let us know! We really want to hear from you. :)

Next, we will not be responding to Game HMD comments for at least 48-72 hours after posting. This is to give the modteam time to digest all responses, give players an opportunity to think of feedback, and write up meaningful responses that are not rushed. We take this seriously, and we want to provide a good feedback experience for you guys.

Finally, we want to pitch the idea of spacing out the Game HMDs to a quarterly system -- every 3 months rather than after every single world. This would (1) give the modteam a bit more breathing room around this time of year when apps, reserves, EMP/TDM are posted and (2) give players a bit more breathing room to think over feedback.

Alternatively, we also want to pitch the idea of having a constant game HMD post where people can go to at their leisure (sort of like we have our always open AC), and refresh that permanent post once every six months. You can post to it whenever you like, but we will generate a new post every six months so players know it exists and also it doesn't get too cluttered.

A top level specifically for scheduling the game HMD (or any other concerns/suggestions for how the Game HMD is run) is below!

Thanks again, and here's to the next World Jump!
