rescue the king.Hello, Circle members! This specific plotting post is brought to you by Eon, the player of Julius Visconti, who asked a rather important question: Where The Hell Is Kathashun And Can I Find Him Somewhere: The Saga Continues?
the long and the short of it.To make a long story short, Julius has spearheaded getting information from Jalin (detailed in the above link), but requires recruits in order to storm the palace to get him out! After obtaining this information from Jalin, there is a brief meeting in the Fight Ring, in which Jalin (and Julius) lay out the bottom line: The King is a powerful ally to have, and he's pretty pissed off at both the Guard and the Syndicate, and needs help getting out. The quicker they bust him out, the quicker they can turn the tide in this fight, and potentially end the fighting altogether.
It turns out Kathashun has been locked inside a sort of magical prison in the dungeons of the palace by his own Guard and needs some help getting out. He cannot break out on his own, because he is a glass cannon . . . but if a group of players want to help crack the rune-etched marble walls, so to speak, he can tear down the rest once the magic-nerfing prison is broken.
There will need to be two teams: an attack squad and a distraction squad. One group of people will go into the Palace itself to rescue Kathashun, and one group of people will remain outside to keep the Guard distracted while they bust Kathashun out. Once Kathashun is free, you will have one hell of a powerful ally on your side, and will be able to get out of the Palace fairly easily . . . so there should be no casualties.
Once he is freed, Kathashun will be taken directly to the Fight Ring to recover, plan, recuperate, and join the fight. sign up for the damsel in distress!Logistically speaking, this event would likely be handwaved and written up in a narrative by the mod-team in terms of the results! This volunteer post is really just to organize, volunteer your character to do something cool, and maybe earn some brownie points with Astoria! Maybe a present of some sort; who knows? You'll find out when you get home.
In terms of the El Minha narrative -- essentially, if enough people sign up, Kathashun will be freed . . . relatively unscathed. He's going to be a bit grumpy and hungry and dehydrated, but he'll be relatively okay. Jalin will also be extraordinarily grateful for some reason. Weird.
Please comment below if you're interested, and fill out this thing to make things a bit easier for Eon (and, by extension, Julius) to round up! Please use this post for plotting, to hash out specific details, or to complain about the King being stupid enough to be kidnapped. It's all up to you!
If your character does sign up, please expect them to be roughed up a bit in the ensuing battle, because the Guard will not go down easily. You can also feel free to post logs fighting out in the Palace due to this event or other narrative-fun things in this setting! An official log, however, will not go up for it mostly because Chelseamod is studying for the bar and cannot consistently RP Kathashun in another big open log SORRY GUYS, though Kathashun post-rescue will likely receive a dated top-level on the event post once he is free.
Finally, as a note, this rescue will likely take place, ICly, mid-week next week. As always, drop any specific questions in the mod questions thread below!

Assets For Rescue: he knows how to be sneaky even without his original powers, but he does think quickly on his feet and honestly, really just wants to help kathashun? he has combat experience, literally trained in any weapon so he can yoink anything off a guard and use it well, he's stronger than he looks. expert at tag-team moves like boosting people or flipping over each other midfight.

Powers: Intangibility!!! Right now it works on Rule of Funny and he doesn't have a lot of control over it, but he is capable of controlling it if he concentrates. This plot would be a great time for him to figure that out too, l-lol.
Assets For Rescue: SEE ABOVE, he can slip through doors and walls and unlock them from the other side, among other things! He's also a thief, so he can pick locks and sneak around stealthily and is otherwise built for covertly infiltrating Palaces, this is like, 100% his jam.

I will be having Julius use his God Arc (living sword/weapon) as a ram for breaking down the door since he can interface with it and all, but other than that I don't have concrete plans for him other than getting in there and busting the king out.
He is also probably going to take a few blows for other people due to his previous enhanced constitution, so feel free to yell at him afterward

Powers: Shapeshifting! He turns into a flying mechanical lion.
Assets For Rescue: Shiro could be a getaway lion and in general can really harrass the guard from above or on the ground. Oh this would be a magical time for him to discover he can fire lasers from his lion maw.

Assets For Rescue: She can fly!! Which means she can drop things from above, get up in the air for safety, lift other characters, etc. She's still learning how to strengthen her wings but you know, this whole experience has been wonderful for experience!

Powers: Hypnotic Persuasion! Roy can convince people to do things. It's super helpful and hella creepy.
Assets For Rescue: Roy is a trained military official, generally good at leading people, an excellent combat fighter, probably stole a sword from someone to defend himself, and is literally only here because Julius asked him to be. He's a tired dad. It's a lot. BUT HE'S HERE.

Powers: Light Generation/Manipulation. He can cause bright light to emit from either items he touches or from himself. The light lasts for an hour and he can change the colour of it if he so desires.
Assets For Rescue: He is big and tall and full of heart! Also, seriously, he's durable thanks to his plating and knows how to make a scene when one needs to make a scene. Daylight will also be bringing Meddy with him, so the Rescue Squad can take Meddy with them when they go to Kathashun so the little bot can try to treat him.

Assets For Rescue: Gladio is six foot six of muscle and never-ending stamina and vigor. He's basically a King's Shield which is a fancy word in his world for his prince's royal guard. He's been trained in combat since he was a child. He has a blade at hand and knows how to use it, but ultimately, he's a major powerhouse.

Assets For Rescue: Sam's had years of experience at avoiding getting caught by authorities, whether it's staying one step ahead of them or just being flat out hard to pin down, he's pretty resourceful, and since they're busting into a magical prison his innate ability to disrupt any magic he can get his hands on could be useful. He's also good at knocking people out if they run into some guards along the way.

Powers: Enlivening! He can give people extra oomph if they're attacked or get tired. He can also help fly Kathashun away once people get him out -- or pretend he's the getaway car in order to throw pursuit off the real Kathashun's track.
Assets For Rescue: He's huge and is going to just, make some noise and literally land on top of the Palace to get the guards' attention. If everyone swarms the giant dragon, they won't be watching the dungeons... maybe he'll bap at the towers a little to make them think he's going all Godzilla on it.

Assets For Rescue: The other coven members probably don't need him for communication, but he can possibly update Kathashun on what's going on outside his cell if the damping effect doesn't kill that completely. Since he can project images and feelings to other people he's also better at confusing the guards than he might be otherwise (making them think something's coming at them, distracting them from aiming at people if he sees that happening, etc.)

Powers: An unbreakable bubble-type barrier he can expand all the way up to 10 feet if need be, but only for 10min a day
Assets For Rescue: He can cover a LOT of people with his barrier, and will be attempting to use it strategically for critical/dangerous moments to preserve his time! Other than that I guess he's loud and would have no shame in this situation so, that's good for drawing attention.
Distraction Squad or Rescue Squad? Distraction squad, since that's the PLAN for where the majority of any actual fighting is going to be, but he'd happily join the rescue squad instead if there were worries that that was going to get hairy.
