Well he's not interested in the races and he seems to have all the time in the world...so he's willing to dig in for awhile (ie several hours over multiple days perhaps). He could also probably tap some of the other people in the library to help him or at least ask if any other Circle members are interested in this line of thought (divide and conquer as it were).
