world jump #2: event #2 ooc post.

defeat the storm.
An intrepid team of Circle Members elected to explore the Storm, while the other team elected to stay in the city and, mostly, remain underground with the BGs. After exploring the Storm, a few things become quickly apparent: (1) it is a natural tour-de-force; (2) it shorts out electronics; and (3) if it approaches the City? Struxta, and the Androids within it, are done for.

When the two teams of Circle members reunite underground, the BGs are ecstatic from what members of the Storm!team have been able to tell them. You quickly learn that any and all information that you have is more than they have ever been able to collect, due to the electrical interference, and they are more than thankful for the information you have and are able to share with them.

To know that the Storm is that large, and a natural force, are two pieces of information crucial to stopping it. You find that over the centuries, they have been trying to find a way to re-engineer the storm -- to create a device, a piece of technology, to temper the Storm into something survivable by the members of Struxta. Because of its natural nature, they just weren't able to get the right combination together, and were never able to complete their device. However, with your help, they are able to make the finishing touches, and might have a way to end the Storm for good.

They explain to you their plan, if you choose to help.
the plan.
As you come to find, the BG's have been working on this plan for centuries. The only reason they haven't been able to fully complete it had been the missing information to complete the device -- specifically, the nature of the Storm. As the resident robots of the Circle have discovered, electricity around androids sucks. They just haven't been able to get a good luck at it . . . and so, now that you all have given them the final puzzle piece, they've got the beginnings of a plan.

Now that they have that information, any Circle Members who wish to help them destroy The Storm for good will be welcomes and explained what they have come up with, making sure each member knows that if they have more to add, the opinions and ideas are welcome. They are simply wishing to return to the world they once knew, and have the final threat be extinguished.

Their plan requires three groups. None of the BGs can attend on this mission, though they will be waiting to receive you all post-haste once . . . well, if you return. All hands on deck are required to make this work, and there is no guarantee of success. However, this is what they've constructed for you all: if you wish to follow their plan, here it goes:

GROUP ONE: THE PREPARATION.
This group will need to be near the storm, as they will be in charge of setting up The Pins. These pins will need to encircle the Storm completely, and will need to be quick on their feet and quick to return. Their job will be just as it says - you will need to set up the Pins, which are pieces of technology about a foot long. They need to be wedged into the mainframe of the planet - aka, the ground - all the way around the Storm. There are 5 of these, and will need to be placed equal distance apart, all the way around the circumference of the Storm.

People volunteering for this will require some amount of stamina. The pins aren't large, but wedging them into the Earth requires some amount of strength! It will also help to have people for support, just in case of stray electric shortages. You never know when you need a medic.

GROUP TWO: THE DEPLOYMENT.
This will be, arguably, the group in most danger, as they will need to go to the eye of the storm and set up the device. As you will be going into the storm, there is high risk of being struck by lightning, and with all the information gathered, the BGs will let you know clearly and simply that you will die. There is no if, or high chance - if you are struck by lightning, you will be fried beyond a place where they will be able to revive you.

The other issue, here, is that the device must be activated. This is extremely tricky, as the activation takes a computer, or an understanding of computers, that have been connected to the Mass Subconscious or Archives in some fashion. The BGs are extremely wary about explaining this part of the plan, as they are hesitant to ask anyone to risk their lives to this degree. However, without someone to complete this part of the job, no part of the plan will work.

Ideally, Group Two requires two moving parts: (1) individuals who have interconnected with the Mass Subconsciousness/the Archives, in order to activate the technology and (2) individuals who are able to help evacuate the Activators, if they require evacuation.

GROUP THREE: THE AFTERMATH.
This group will need to go above ground. The BG's explain that if their plan goes accordingly, the electricity produced by the Storm, and the energy of the Storm itself, will be transferred directly into the planet. This is beneficial, because it will - in essence - destroy the Storm, while also charging up every aspect of the planet. However, while the long term effects of this will continue to benefit Struxta, it will also act as a power surge throughout the entire world, potentially knocking a good portion of the population of Struxta out. It may also permanently damage certain aspects of Struxta . . . such as the Mass Subconsciousness. There's no real guarantee, though, and it's a risk they're willing to take. However, the residents of Struxta (particularly, the BGs first) will need help being rebooted, and brought back online - essentially, a medical squad to help bring back any and all affected members.

They will reiterate, after this, that they are open to any other ideas to destroy the Storm, as they do not wish to put anyone in danger. However, this is the best shot they have at figuring out how to temper the Storm and remove the energy. They have heard that those among you have certain powers -- if any are able to control the weather, or lightning, or electricity in some way, the BGs believe it could have a similar effect, and those abilities would be considered extraordinarily useful. Any character's ability to aide this plan could turn the tide in their favor, and while they don't want you all to put yourselves in danger, they also don't have much of a choice. Please help them.
misc;.
The log for the Final Event will go up on August 11th, 12:00 AM EST, with appropriate headers underneath each group. You guys have the days in-between to plot, plan, and figure out what you're all going to do!

PLEASE NOTE: There is no space limit on any of the groups! Anyone who wants to go can go, wherever they wish to go. However, keep in mind that your character will definitely have a group better or less suited to each other, and absence of certain skills in certain places could affect the outcome of Struxta! Roll the dice and take a gamble. :) . Below, you can sign up for each group, ask the mods any relevant questions, and generally plot with one another!

Finally, we will be writing up a Struxta End Post at the culmination of the event, to be posted around August 22nd. The Circle will move back to the Temple on August 23, which is also when the Test Drive Meme for the September App Round occurs!

Handling the crisis in the city is just as important as the plan. He has training for this so this is where he'll go.

Shiro will let Roy organize them while he offers suggestions and input based on his own tech knowledge and training. He can assist with rebooting and will be able to do scouting from above to access any damage.

He can talk anyone through who needs the teaching through accessing tech/operating it.

Wash is in! He will work with Roy to organize (if Roy is up for it; if not, he'll defer, provided he doesn't think Roy is doing anything boneheaded); he'll also be willing/able to teach non tech savvy people the wonders of ctrl+alt+del.
insubordination: (027.)

[personal profile] insubordination 2018-08-07 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Roy is a team player! He'll happily accept any and all help in organizing, seeing as the rest of his team from home will likely be running around all over the place to spread their effectiveness.

Putting Waver here, as his magic is probably going to be damn useful all things considered. :>

[personal profile] teratias 2018-08-07 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Waver is probably best suited for emergency evacuation rather than activation. The way his magic works means that he can cast spells, so long as he has then written down first. As a result, he can prepare a number of different spells for protection/safe evacuation/wrapping people up in insulation if need be in order to withstand any issues that are involved with the situation.

Slotting Akira here! He's got speed on his side, even though his strength stat is pretty average. He'll be mostly good for support, though!

Tefé is absolutely a teenager who has no idea what she'd doing although might get some tips but also you can't tell me what to do you're not my dad so will probably be a loose canon rolling around helping at random. Sorry organized types (but no seriously please hassle her).

Nihuang is reasonably strong, steady, and also fast in bursts, but she should also be good for taking/relaying orders and the general coordination efforts when it comes to placement, troubleshooting, and other logistics.

Screw it. While Maes would debate it for some time, he figures they have a higher chance of success if they have a good group who has a high chance of getting out in one piece.
Maes will volunteer if only because he knows his ability is going to come in handy for getting out. Need a quick teleport? He's your guy.

He really, REALLY doesn't want to die (again) though so will probably not be taking any crazy risks.

[personal profile] dadandgone 2018-08-08 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man I didn't realize they had similar abilities! That's cool.

Maybe they can coordinate somehow.

[personal profile] dadandgone 2018-08-08 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Well since it looks like Connor has one teleporter, Maes can be the one that helps Daylight (new CR is always good too). Maes can teleport via touch and would be wanting to get out sooner anyway.

I would love that! They're both going to be totally necessary to get all of these danger seekers out in one piece, honestly

Since Maes's teleportation has a range, can you guys provide me with information on the distance from the eye of the storm to the outer limits? If Maes is going to be getting people out I'd like it know if he could do it in one hop or not. (Reminder that his "range" is 5 miles).
dadandgone: (Default)

[personal profile] dadandgone 2018-08-09 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Awesome! We can handwave them coordinating/discussing their tactics, maybe 'dividing' the group between them as to who they are responsible for (or at least Maes would think to do that, since that way they wouldn't have two teleporters rushing in to help one person).

Obviously that's just if things DON'T go to hell and they have to save people 'not as planned' which is likely to happen too.

Firo's pretty quick and strong, enough to help lugging stuff around. He can also heal someone once a day, so he can be helpful if anyone gets injured during this phase!

[personal profile] valuedstrength 2018-08-09 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Steve should still be strong/fast enough to handle the job with the pins. His healing ability will also be useful in case someone gets struck! What a time to find out he's a healer, huh?
sunborne: (089. - 🔥 - HAPPINESS.)

[personal profile] sunborne 2018-08-10 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my gosh yes!!

I would love for Maes and Daylight to finally have a chance to meet up. Daylight will be super grateful for the help and do what he can to repay Maes in return, since the guy is literally stepping in to save Day's big butt.

Cayde's going for the glory, despite the possible dangers. His magic actually may be somewhat useful in preventing death-by-lightning, so as long as the suit the BGs made works he should be somewhat okay to help shield people for a while. If they want to trust him with that responsibility, that is.
sendinthecavalry: (Default)

[personal profile] sendinthecavalry 2018-08-10 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So Cayde is coming along, and his magic actually might come in useful, who would have thought! He's not going to be able to stop lightning, but he might be able to stop it from actually hitting anyone important. As long as he's able to actually function, there's a good chance that he could, in theory, make sure anyone that's heading out and away stays at least sort of safe.
sendinthecavalry: (Default)

[personal profile] sendinthecavalry 2018-08-10 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
So Cayde has the ability to manipulate chance and the outcomes of things...would this apply to where the lightning strikes? Like, would it be possible for him to make it strike next to someone instead of striking them and frying them to kingdom come? Well, if he's even able to get close enough to the storm, that is.
