TEST DRIVE MEME #5.
![]() test drive meme #5 It happens in the blink of an eye. One moment, you are home. Perhaps you are with your family, perhaps you are at work. It's a completely normal day . . . and then, suddenly, your stomach drops. You are overcome with a sudden sense of vertigo. You cannot see up, or down, or where you are. You fall flat on your face. It's bright, warm, and humid . . . for now. Weirdly, the weather seems to be entirely in flux. One moment, it is warm and humid, and within the next handful of hours, it is starting to snow. Whatever is going on with Astoria seems to be messing with the atmosphere of the Temple, and as a result, you are having something of a wild entrance to Acatalepsy. It takes a few seconds for you to gain composure and catch your breath. You are surrounded by ancient stone buildings, with carvings you do not recognize etched into the stone. There's a sense of nausea, overwhelming and sudden, when you realize you aren't in Kansas anymore. Indeed, it seems as if you have fallen down the rabbit hole. A weird, mysterious, snowing-yet-humid rabbit hole. ![]() THE TEMPLE OF BEGINNINGS. Welcome to the "Home Base" of Astoria's Circle. What the actual name of the base is called is lost to the ages, and there's no sense of where you could find it, unless you started asking around. At any rate, this is a central hub of the Circle, a place of powerful magic and mysterious energy. It is a scattering of ancient stone buildings and for the most part, it looks abandoned . . . except for what seems to be a few items, some rooms taken, items moved or organized, even a small garden planted. These are just the smallest hints that there are people here that have been here before you arrived. Overall, it's fairly beautiful. However, it is definitely not modern. Upon exploration, you find that the buildings are kept up by some kind of magic. Some of the rooms have items, things from other Circle members already settled, and others appear to be unclaimed. Pick your rooms, explore the grounds, see the beauty and wonder all around you in such a magical place. However, be careful -- there is some additional movement around the Temple that seems specific to the time of year. HAPPY UN-BIRTHDAY. ![]() There is such a massive array of food here that it almost seems impossible to know where to start . . . tea and cookies set out with messages that read “EAT/DRINK ME." Well, if you insist. However . . . certain foods and drinks have certain effects upon your person that are wholly unexpected. Well, drat. If you taste the rosehip tea, you are suddenly infatuated with the first individual you lay eyes on. They are everything to you. You think you may even want to propose, immediately, right now. Weddings, I love weddings! Tasting the ladyfingers will cause you to spill your deepest secrets to whoever is nearby. Have a secret crush? Not anymore! The entire room has to know about it, and you somehow can't seem to shut up about whatever you've been trying to keep quiet. A sip of the chamomile tea will cause you to become ridiculously sleepy. That corner looks like a particularly delightful place to take a nap, doesn't it? Maybe someone else wants to nap too. The Madeline cakes cause a ridiculously high spike in happiness. Nothing can get you down, not even the grumpiest of people. Smile, smile, smile! You need to spread this joy to everyone in your reach. A nibble of the scones will prevent you from lying. . . and, in addition, you will be brutally honest on whatever question you're asked. Maybe now is a bad time to give an opinion on your friend's outfit or new haircut, hm? And, finally, the Earl Grey tea will cause an enhancement of your Astoria given powers. Make sure you have that under control, or you may accidentally blow out a window, depending on what it is. YOU'RE LATE, YOU'RE LATE. ![]() In addition, the Unseen Servants may also be attempting to steal things off of you. After all, you are also new to their world, and they want to make sure everything is put into their proper place, so beware any silent mischievous Unseen Servants dipping hands into pockets. Also . . . some of the rooms in the Temple are shifting around. Certain entryways could lead you to a select location at random. You may have thought you were entering your room, but it appears you’ve wound up in someone else’s. Or the bathhouse. Or the forest. Either way, you may find yourself lost for a bit...until the Temple decides to stop playing tricks on you. Keep track of your location, or you may wind up in the Forest of the Fey by mistake. OFF WITH YOUR HEAD. ![]() When you enter, the gates will shut behind you. They will not budge. You have now entered a makeshift Royal Court. Suddenly, a playing card manifests in your hand. It might be… A Heart: A princess-like figure is displayed on this card. She appears to be singing. On the back reads a message that states “This card withholds your role. You’ll be permitted to leave once we are thoroughly entertained. Best of luck!” No further instruction is given. Those who have entered with you are in the same predicament. How will you interpret your card? Who are you stuck with and how will you satisfy the audience? Or are you a member of the audience instead? Either way, good luck getting out — it’s up to you! COMMUNICATIONS. ![]() Upon arriving, you will notice on whichever is your non-dominant hand, you will have a fairly simply screen. A smart watch, if you will. Upon exploration, you will find that it has a directory of all those here with you at the Temple of Beginnings- names, and access to a direct message to them. The watch also has video, audio, and text capabilities, as well as what looks like a collection of messages sent to everyone who wishes to open them. This is your 'network', and also how Astoria can reach out and communicate with you. There is nothing keeping you from removing and/or losing your watch! But remember that you will not have access to this network without it. OOC: Also feel free to join us and other possible players on our discord server! enjoy! ♥ |

[Kind of? Sora sits up, trying to rub at his eyes and stay upright when she pulls at his shoulders. He's still obviously really tired for some reason. He may have ended up knocking his tea over in the process of his falling asleep at the table. But then, whether Sora made that connection to the tea and his being tired is debatable. Mostly because he naps anyway even without tea.
Though, it is also not surprising that he might have something of a worry now around sleeping habits, considering what he went through with Namine and then the Mastery Exam more recently.]

Are not. [ He's only physically up. Sitting up. But even that seems like it could fall through easily. ] Are you okay?
[ He seems to be taking too long to fully wake up, even for Sora standards. ]

[Sora's too sleepy to entirely be alert enough to notice something seems to be wrong. Or at least, that he's more tired than usual in taking time to wake up. Though he's getting there, in sitting up and having Kairi talk to him.
He is relieved though, in seeing her again. Even if this means she's mixed up in this strange maze of a place as well. Which is not necessarily a good thing. It is just taking time for his brain to catch up to click on that.]

That's my line. I've already been here a while. [ Not that she's really kept track of how long. But it has to have been a couple of months by now, right?
But thinking back a little has her think about what's recently happened here — having lost a world she, and everyone else, tried so hard to help — and she has to push that out of her mind. Sora's here. He's here and she's ... happy.
So, it might seem a bit sudden to him, but she's going to go ahead and hug him now. Yeah, not holding it back anymore. Not now that she really thinks on how much she wants and needs to. ]
You're late.
[ There's a lot more behind those words than she lets on. She tries to keep her tone playful, at the very least, but there's quite a bit of relief showing through. ]

[.....as if that was a first. He well remembers Riku telling them off for the older teen supposedly being the only one working on the raft while Sora had been napping in the sand before Kairi woke him. Still, he blinks at the hug, tentatively returning it as best he can given he was sitting. Maybe after the hug he might try standing. If he could manage that much given the tea he drank.]
Sorry. I'm here now.
[Wherever 'here' is. He's gotten rather lost in this place and all. Not to mention kind of losing track with having napped there.]
no subject
You are.
[ He's here now. And that's most important. She's not going to hold it against him, or anything. She ended up here against her own will, so she can't blame him for not showing up. Granted, him being here means that he must've ended up here the same way she did. Maybe? Or did he get here like normal? Whatever, they've got plenty of time to catch up. ]
Come on. I can show you the place, if you want.
[ He's clearly only just got here. So she needs to show him! And this gives him an excuse to try standing. ]

[A tour might help him remember and figure where things are. And, well, it's Kairi. Of course he wasn't intending to stray far now he had found her again. Especially in such a strange place and situation. However tired he might be.
And, well, once she gives him some space and he releases his light embrace from her himself, he does make to stand. He's perhaps a little wobbly at least at first, but seems to manage. Even if he does give a yawn in the process, raising a gloved hand to his mouth.]
no subject
Seriously, Sora. You're sure you're okay? You're never this tired.
no subject
[It's true he's usually seen taking naps, but this is different from him laying on the beach, enjoying the sun and the sound of the waves and drifting off. He probably hasn't fallen asleep at the table since he was much younger.
As usual with sleeping, it's hard to say how long he was conked out. But he tries to straighten, gesturing to her to lead the way.]
Where to first?
no subject
So, she thinks for a moment, before deciding on the most practical answer. ]
The Temple might be a good place to start. It's where everyone lives here.
[ A pause. ]
There's an extra bed, in my room, if you want.
[ If he's brave enough to live in the same room as a girl. ]

[Changing their clothes, he means. Though maybe they could figure that in the bathrooms. Sora isn't all that familiar with the place yet, especially given how much of a maze it seems to be. It's not like he isn't used to sleepovers with Riku and Kairi though. It is just...kind of different now given their ages, in comparison to when they were younger. But probably, as long as they had their own space to change, he doesn't see why it wouldn't be a good idea to stick together in this. Considering the strange situation.
That and he is probably more amenable at the moment anyway given his waking up.]
no subject
We can use the bathroom, silly.
[ See? She's got this. At least, she's a lot more chill about things than Sora tends to be, when it comes to this sort of stuff. She's missed him so much, she can't help it if she wants to stay in the same room with him, too. She'll feel a lot better having him close by like that. ]
no subject
[Wherever the bathrooms or anything else actually was around here, for that matter. Sora's tired but trying to make notes of some landmarks? That they pass by. Not that he might necessarily be able to remember, but he could at least try.]
So where is your room in all of this anyway?
no subject
I think ... it's this way.
[ Pointing to the left, and then leading him over there. They've been on another world since she got here, mostly, so she hasn't had a lot of time in this area, okay!! ]
no subject
[Sora just figures she seems like she has a better idea on this place and all, given she was here longer. Though that did bring into question....he follows her, just slightly behind as he glances to her. She didn't seem to appear to be much if any older? Which might be reassuring or concerning, depending. His slight pout of consideration doesn't stop his trademark walk with his hands behind his head though.]
So....how long have you been here, Kairi?
no subject
Maybe ... a little more than two months? It's sometimes hard to tell. [ They're always doing so much, and don't really have opportunities to look at calendars, or anything. But it feels like it's been that long.
Mmmnn ... looking to the left, then the right. ] Maybe it was the other way ...
[ Oops. ]
no subject
[Sure, they had been apart for longer, given the year he was asleep and all. But most of that at least, she hadn't remembered him so it probably had seemed more bearable for the friends to be apart. In comparison to now. He pauses in glancing in the different directions when she does.]
I'm sure we'll find it.
