TDM # 6
![]() test drive meme #6 It happens in the blink of an eye. One moment, you are home. Perhaps you are with your family, perhaps you are at work. It's a completely normal day . . . and then, suddenly, your stomach drops. You are overcome with a sudden sense of vertigo. You cannot see up, or down, or where you are. You fall flat on your face. It takes a few seconds for you to gain composure and catch your breath. You are surrounded by ancient stone buildings, with carvings you do not recognize etched into the stone. There's a sense of nausea, overwhelming and sudden, when you realize you aren't in Kansas anymore. . . . or maybe you are. It seems oddly like a state fair, except a bit more mystical, and a bit more . . . well, touched by faerie-magic.. ![]() THE TEMPLE OF BEGINNINGS. Welcome to the "Home Base" of Astoria's Circle. What the actual name of the base is called is lost to the ages, and there's no sense of where you could find it, unless you started asking around. At any rate, this is a central hub of the Circle, a place of powerful magic and mysterious energy. It is a scattering of ancient stone buildings and for the most part, it looks abandoned . . . except for what seems to be a few items, some rooms taken, items moved or organized, even a small garden planted. These are just the smallest hints that there are people here that have been here before you arrived. Overall, it's fairly beautiful. However, it is definitely not modern. Upon exploration, you find that the buildings are kept up by some kind of magic. Some of the rooms have items, things from other Circle members already settled, and others appear to be unclaimed. Pick your rooms, explore the grounds, see the beauty and wonder all around you in such a magical place. Once you're done with that, though, get ready -- there's a carnival in town. FEAST FOR THE PEOPLE. ![]() Regardless, it leads you to a variety of food stands, each and everyone being manned by one of the unseen servants. And lo and behold, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for: food from the very place you’ve come from. The plates and portions are . . . er, floating in air due to how unseen the servants are, but when you reach forward to have a bite, you are promptly stopped. It seems as though the servants are asking for something in exchange. A sign floats up before you… “The food is free ♥ But first, find someone and show them… Your best smile! A flower! Spring is abound ♥ A neat trick using the power I gave you~” You’d best get on it — of course, you could try to simply steal if you’re hungry enough, but well...we’ll see how well that goes over. Ironically enough, the foods you may not be especially partial to will be offered to you without any trouble. Huh. TEN TICKETS GETS A PENCIL. ![]() Besides, don’t you want those prizes? There is a wide selection of "stuffed animals" made out of grass and flowers to be won, but it all comes down to you. These prizes won't wilt or die, either! How lovely. Additionally, some of the booths give you out some arbitrary amount of tickets, regardless of how well you do. If you win, you seem to get . . . less tickets? But if you lose, you get the lot. Astoria doesn't seem to really get the point of carnival games. There is a booth to turn in said tickets, though! Ten tickets will get you a bright pink pencil. Fifty tickets will get you a kazoo that makes you irresistibly happy for thirty minutes at a time. A hundred tickets will get you a massive stuffed puppy made out of flowers. And two hundred tickets will get you a tiara made out of flowers. . . . these gifts seem to be Astoria-centric, but you'll surely like them, right? LOVE IS IN THE AIR. ![]() The ferris wheel is made entirely from giant leaves and vines, but is still running, and absolutely safe. You might want to jump on it to see the entirety of the Temple . . . in the (near-ish) distance, you can see Lake Dona, stretching on for what appears to be miles. You can see the Forest of the Fey, equally massive and sprawling . . . and neither seems to have an end in sight. But hey, at least you got a free carnival ride. Bumper cars? More like bumper logs, floating in a small lake of sorts that (for those who have been in the Circle for some time) definitely wasn’t there before. Crashing into one another is a load of fun, but if you get up-ended, you might wind up being shoved back into the logs unceremoniously by some kelpies. Where in the heck did they come from? (They're harmless, for the most part. Astoria seems to have recruited the more tame ones.) And, even better, the unseen servants are keen to get new people to know one another! Are you in line with someone you know? Or next to a complete stranger? Either way, you’ll get shuffled into the next cart and put on your way. The Tunnel of Roses is a great place to meet someone, right? It's seemingly sprung up out of absolutely nowhere . . . a dark, quiet, romantic ride on a tiny little boat, just big enough for two! You’ve got some...time to break the ice. The ride apparently lasts four hours. COMMUNICATIONS. ![]() Upon arriving, you will notice on whichever is your non-dominant hand, you will have a fairly simply screen. A smart watch, if you will. Upon exploration, you will find that it has a directory of all those here with you at the Temple of Beginnings- names, and access to a direct message to them. The watch also has video, audio, and text capabilities, as well as what looks like a collection of messages sent to everyone who wishes to open them. This is your 'network', and also how Astoria can reach out and communicate with you. There is nothing keeping you from removing and/or losing your watch! But remember that you will not have access to this network without it. OOC: Also feel free to join us and other possible players on our discord server! enjoy! ♥ |
Nate Heywood | DC's Legends of Tomorrow
[waking up in a weird place is not exactly new for nate -- it's happened while he was a legend more times than he could count. and while he was supposed to be going back to the time bureau now, he can accept that he's been stuck in a detour. a detour that involves him being unable to steel up. it panics him, honestly. if he loses his powers, does it make him hemophiliac here?
he hopes he doesn't find out the hard way.
but for now he explores, because as a historian he can't help but want to learn more about the place he's been stuck in. which leads him to the food stands.]
That's uncanny -- it smells exactly like my mom's cooking and some of those look like her amazing sandwiches -- which makes me wonder what the catch is. Cause my mom isn't here to make them.
prizes
[Nate has never been a sports person. He is not talented at throwing things or hitting things (well, except with his fist, but that's not how these games work) but he even though he loses every game he tries he keeps....getting all these tickets. Which is a little weird. But also kinda exciting?? He never really got to do the Chuck-E-Cheese thing as a kid or anything so he's turning in his tickets to get one of those floral crowns.
and because he is a man completely secure in his own masculinity he will be placing said flower crown on his head.]
What do you know? I make a very fetching princess.

hey everyone -- i hope i'm not interupting anyone's fun carnival times or anything but i have to ask, does a team known as the legends ring a bell for anyone? my name is dr. nathaniel heywood and i'm just trying to see if any of my friends have been caught up in this madness
thank you
wildcard!!
[if these prompts don't work or you want to try something else, let me know! feel free to pm me or pplurk me @ autoclave and we can figure something else out. thank you.]
feast }
This month has been rough. First Sara, followed by Constantine and Tony, there's a lot of missing people that she doesn't know how to find, but hearing Nate waxing poetic about his mom's sandwiches is a pick me up she didn't know she needed.
Food is immediately forgotten as she reroutes to her friend's side.]
Nate?

Zari!!
no subject
It's so good to have a friend around, and she tries not to dwell on how strange it is to think that.]
When did you get here?
no subject
A few hours ago or so -- how long have you been here?
no subject
[It's hard to judge how quickly time moves in a place like this, especially when they're coming in and out all the time. Kind of like how hard it is to judge how long you've been on the Waverider when there's something called time travel.]
It's a really long story. But I'm really glad you're here.
[As selfish as that sounds.]
no subject
[he's not prying, but it sort of seems like she might need to talk about something, and zari is his friend, if she needs support he wants to offer it even if there's still so much about this situation he doesn't understand.]

You'll understand if I'll give you a neutral spot you can meet the one is here and the promise if anything happens to her, I'll put your head through the first wall I see.
no subject
I totally get it. I'm some strange dude you've never met before -- but I can say I would never hurt any of my team. They're my family.
You're not going to tell me her name, are you?
[if sara is gone that leaves two options -- zari or charlie. or ava but she wasn't really a legend. he hopes it isn't charlie. even if they ended on better terms....it's still weird.]
no subject
I appreciate you not fighting me on this.

[ She's not sure how many are left, but. ]
I'm Lorna, by the way. Dane. Polaris when I'm doing the superhero thing.
no subject
[ even if he had chosen to leave the waverider for the time being. ]
Most people call me Nate. Or Steel, when I'm superheroing it up

Guessing you have metal tricks too? And the "Dr." is for..?
no subject
History. I have a Doctorate in History.
no subject
Here I was hoping it was MD for my clumsy ass :P
no subject
sorry. definitely not that type of doctor
[he spent too much of his childhood in hospitals to ever want that.]
prize
[Carmen smiles as she approaches the prize booth. She has a small number of tickets in her hand, though apparently her own skill and dexterity is NOT coming in handy today. As opposed to Nate, she is doing EXTREMELY well at the games, but that doesn't seem to be ranking in the tickets like she would have guessed it would.]
Though I'm afraid those pastels would clash with my own look. Did they have anything else interesting?
[Her eyes start scanning the prizes available, even as she asks.]
no subject
[it's not pastel, at least.]
no subject
[She glances over the items and the displayed 'prices' for them in tickets. She'd been playing a few games, but for some reason winning didn't really seem to be raking them in.]
Unfortunately it looks like I might only have enough for a kazoo and a pencil or go back and try my hand at a few other games.
[The kazoo and pencil COULD be practical things to have though. Hmm.]
no subject
[it's strange, to say the least. generally you don't win stuff for doing badly.]
no subject
[Top in her class at picking pockets and was usually one of the first to score in combat and obstacle courses. She had to be light on her feet and flexible, to say the least, and it sounded like to win tickets at the games she was going to have to start doing the opposite.]
I guess in a festival where food costs a smile, then winning fewer tickets for doing well at the games makes about as much sense.
[She doesn't seem too bothered by it, but it IS an interesting observation. She wouldn't have come to that conclusion had she not run into him either.]
Glad you pointed it out before I started trying even harder.
no subject
[he's still a little weirded out by how some of that stuff smelled exactly like his mom's cooking when she definitely isn't here.]
Yeah, if you want to earn anything better it looks like you're going to have to try to lose on purpose.
