WORLD JUMP: struxta: a storm approaches.

under the city.
You have all spent roughly two weeks in Struxta, and many of you have done your fair share of digging. The city itself has gone on around you, as if your presence is interesting, but nothing to keep them from their work. They think of you as foreigners, yes, but nothing more than a new addition to their already crazy lives.

Some of you have continued to dig- through the Library, through the Archives, and through the Mass Consciousness, and have come up with your own fair share of information. More information than some of you could handle, and more still to be found. What happened to the natural life forms, why is this world so mechanized, how does it actually work...the surface of these answers has been scratched, but not yet uncovered.

That is, until the tunnels are. Uncovered, that is.

And what you find within them sets everything in a very different light.

---

There are others, down there. Other robots, other natives, other members of the Struxta society - or at least, were a part of Struxta society. It does take some time of exploration, before you come across them. The under-dwellers, or Below Grounds (also known as BGs) are quite a bit different from their upper city counterparts. Out-dated, with scrap-metal parts and older processing systems. Where every other member of the city has seemed streamlined, upgraded, the under-city seems to have been left in the decades prior. While the entirety of it is still mechanical (think Treasure Planet), it is still older, like as the years have gone by the city has grown on top of its past. Ignoring what has happened for the sake of upward movement.

The BGs - at first - are skittish and unsure of any other figures that are beneath the city. However, after some time and some watching, they will approach anyone underground. It will be when everyone is separate, alone, a chance to discuss what is going on one and one.

Anyone who is exploring the underground for more than a day or so will have a chance to talk with the BG's - these older models, forgotten like the years passed. Through their discussion, they can find out a variety of things, most specifically - the BG's are the closest to the original natural beings that have ever lived in Struxta, older models who once acted as hosts for the subconsciouses of previous natives. Where all the androids and robots and other natives of Struxta on the surface have progressed beyond a point of holding on to their previous selves, these BG's still remember what it means to still be natural, and alive, but also what happened and why they were pushed underground.

Here is a link if you'd like to ask specific questions to any of the BG's. Their numbers aren't significant - no more than a hundred - and all of them would be willing to answer a few questions. Know, though, that too much questioning can cause their older, outdated systems to overheat and glitch out. You may only have a few questions to ask, but each conversation will bring up - whether natural or completely uncalled for - The Storm.

the storm.
The way that the BG's mention the storm is with both terror and respect. From what information you can gather, it has been going on for thousands of years. It seems to have appeared back during the plague, though no direct connection could be made. A large, looming, dangerous cloud that destroyed everything in its path.

If asked for more details, the BG's will be unable to give much more. Only that it extinguishes life, destroys homes, kills all in its wake. The Mass Subconscious has no trace of it, as it is seen as a 'Chaotic Trigger' and it is more beneficial to the masses to ignore its existence rather than cause mass panic. But that's not important anymore, because The Storm has returned.

Along the outsides of the city - because there is an outer edge, despite what the maze of Struxta has led everyone within it to believe. An outer rim, an edge that opens to nothing, a line where civilization meets darkness. The Storm is consuming, destroying, and slowly creeping its way closer and closer. No one has seen the storm and survived, no one knows exactly what it does. Only that it cuts off any kind of communication the people of Struxta have ever had, and that no one has been able to return.

The BG's will ask a favor of you - being foreigners, with abilities that the natives of Struxta have never before seen, you might have a chance. They can take you to an underground transportation facility, take you out to the outer rim, take you to where The Storm is supposed to be, if you can find a way to stop it. If you can find a way to save Struxta. Because if that storm continues, if it's able to make it to the main center, all of Struxta will end as they have known it.
above ground.
For those who decided not to follow the others down into the tunnels, most of your days have been normal. You've gone about your job, gone about your lives, run errands, slept, tried to normalize yourself to the food, etc. It's as much as you can do to normalize yourself to the city, to blend in as much as possible.

You may or may not even know that an exploration into the tunnels below has even started. But one day (July 29th, if we want to get technical), you'll find something....isn't quite right.

First, you'll wake up to a message on your watches. Those underground will not recieve this message, due to the complications with service. It is a simple line of text, with no further explanation given.

All newcomers to Struxta are instructed to remain in their rooms until further notice.

There is no one to reply to, nowhere to direct questions. Depending on your response to said message, there will be figures posted at each of the doors that lead out of The Hostel - very strongly encouraging you to go back inside. They seem almost impossible to avoid, by normal means, but don't seem to move much when it comes to leaving their posts. You are free to walk around inside the Hostel, but any movement towards the doors or exits will result in more encouragement.

Return to your rooms. And nothing more.
mod's notes.
(1) The official event log will be open for any of the above prompts, or anything further your character may want to look into. This post is for plotting; picking what your characters will want to do, how they will react, etc etc etc. Also, feel free to ask questions below regarding the plot, but please point any BG directed questions to the BG thread. :)

(2) Characters who wish to explore further into The Storm, please comment here, and feel free to plot OOCly with your fellow investigators. There will be a separate log posted for anyone who decides to investigate and/or deal with The Storm.

(3) Please note that any character who do not follow the investigation and do not remain in their rooms at The Hostel will be detained and will be returned to their room, and force will be used if necessary.

(4) Please drop comments below in the appropriate top levels in order to let us know what you'd to do, or what your characters have been doing/planning in the interim! Use this post to plot, to plan, to figure out what you all have been doing with the information you've been given, ask questions of the mod team, and try to figure out what your character would do when the shit hits the proverbial fan.

(5) Have fun (and also don't forget to turn in your AC, due July 31 by 11:59 PM EST because we love you and want you to stay in the game)!

might be a little late to the party depending on how the breaking out of the hostel thing goes along, but arashi is definitely headed towards exploring the storm if she can!
