TDM # 6
![]() test drive meme #6 It happens in the blink of an eye. One moment, you are home. Perhaps you are with your family, perhaps you are at work. It's a completely normal day . . . and then, suddenly, your stomach drops. You are overcome with a sudden sense of vertigo. You cannot see up, or down, or where you are. You fall flat on your face. It takes a few seconds for you to gain composure and catch your breath. You are surrounded by ancient stone buildings, with carvings you do not recognize etched into the stone. There's a sense of nausea, overwhelming and sudden, when you realize you aren't in Kansas anymore. . . . or maybe you are. It seems oddly like a state fair, except a bit more mystical, and a bit more . . . well, touched by faerie-magic.. ![]() THE TEMPLE OF BEGINNINGS. Welcome to the "Home Base" of Astoria's Circle. What the actual name of the base is called is lost to the ages, and there's no sense of where you could find it, unless you started asking around. At any rate, this is a central hub of the Circle, a place of powerful magic and mysterious energy. It is a scattering of ancient stone buildings and for the most part, it looks abandoned . . . except for what seems to be a few items, some rooms taken, items moved or organized, even a small garden planted. These are just the smallest hints that there are people here that have been here before you arrived. Overall, it's fairly beautiful. However, it is definitely not modern. Upon exploration, you find that the buildings are kept up by some kind of magic. Some of the rooms have items, things from other Circle members already settled, and others appear to be unclaimed. Pick your rooms, explore the grounds, see the beauty and wonder all around you in such a magical place. Once you're done with that, though, get ready -- there's a carnival in town. FEAST FOR THE PEOPLE. ![]() Regardless, it leads you to a variety of food stands, each and everyone being manned by one of the unseen servants. And lo and behold, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for: food from the very place you’ve come from. The plates and portions are . . . er, floating in air due to how unseen the servants are, but when you reach forward to have a bite, you are promptly stopped. It seems as though the servants are asking for something in exchange. A sign floats up before you… “The food is free ♥ But first, find someone and show them… Your best smile! A flower! Spring is abound ♥ A neat trick using the power I gave you~” You’d best get on it — of course, you could try to simply steal if you’re hungry enough, but well...we’ll see how well that goes over. Ironically enough, the foods you may not be especially partial to will be offered to you without any trouble. Huh. TEN TICKETS GETS A PENCIL. ![]() Besides, don’t you want those prizes? There is a wide selection of "stuffed animals" made out of grass and flowers to be won, but it all comes down to you. These prizes won't wilt or die, either! How lovely. Additionally, some of the booths give you out some arbitrary amount of tickets, regardless of how well you do. If you win, you seem to get . . . less tickets? But if you lose, you get the lot. Astoria doesn't seem to really get the point of carnival games. There is a booth to turn in said tickets, though! Ten tickets will get you a bright pink pencil. Fifty tickets will get you a kazoo that makes you irresistibly happy for thirty minutes at a time. A hundred tickets will get you a massive stuffed puppy made out of flowers. And two hundred tickets will get you a tiara made out of flowers. . . . these gifts seem to be Astoria-centric, but you'll surely like them, right? LOVE IS IN THE AIR. ![]() The ferris wheel is made entirely from giant leaves and vines, but is still running, and absolutely safe. You might want to jump on it to see the entirety of the Temple . . . in the (near-ish) distance, you can see Lake Dona, stretching on for what appears to be miles. You can see the Forest of the Fey, equally massive and sprawling . . . and neither seems to have an end in sight. But hey, at least you got a free carnival ride. Bumper cars? More like bumper logs, floating in a small lake of sorts that (for those who have been in the Circle for some time) definitely wasn’t there before. Crashing into one another is a load of fun, but if you get up-ended, you might wind up being shoved back into the logs unceremoniously by some kelpies. Where in the heck did they come from? (They're harmless, for the most part. Astoria seems to have recruited the more tame ones.) And, even better, the unseen servants are keen to get new people to know one another! Are you in line with someone you know? Or next to a complete stranger? Either way, you’ll get shuffled into the next cart and put on your way. The Tunnel of Roses is a great place to meet someone, right? It's seemingly sprung up out of absolutely nowhere . . . a dark, quiet, romantic ride on a tiny little boat, just big enough for two! You’ve got some...time to break the ice. The ride apparently lasts four hours. COMMUNICATIONS. ![]() Upon arriving, you will notice on whichever is your non-dominant hand, you will have a fairly simply screen. A smart watch, if you will. Upon exploration, you will find that it has a directory of all those here with you at the Temple of Beginnings- names, and access to a direct message to them. The watch also has video, audio, and text capabilities, as well as what looks like a collection of messages sent to everyone who wishes to open them. This is your 'network', and also how Astoria can reach out and communicate with you. There is nothing keeping you from removing and/or losing your watch! But remember that you will not have access to this network without it. OOC: Also feel free to join us and other possible players on our discord server! enjoy! ♥ |
Sora l Kingdom Hearts
[When had it been since Sora had last eaten? He does lose track sometimes. So of course it is easy for him to get distracted in his explorations of new worlds and everything else. Probably why his stomach then decides to protest when he smells the food on offer, as his nose leads him nearby.
There's a pout when he's told he has to do something first, before he gets something to eat. But the examples given seem easy enough.
Which is exactly why he then changes from the trademark pout of his to the trademark smile. That big grin at his lips as he turns from the food to whoever might be nearest.]
Ferris Wheel:
Oh, neat! This looks fun!
[He's more used to the simple play Islands back home. Than amusement parks and rides like this. So of course this is exciting for him and Sora is keen to try the rides. He beelines for the ferris wheel, figuring it would make a good vantage point to then see the rest of the area a bit better.]
Communication:
[Sora....is not the best with technology. Hence what he might manage to get out is more like a random keysmash as he initially tries to figure out how to actually use the watch. That and/or just a really big close up of his bright blue eye if he manages the video function.]
How does this work? I press this....? Having something like this would be useful back home. If it lets us talk to people.
[Especially given there were times he was separated from his friends. Like now. So. Yes, it would definitely be handy.]
[ooc: Debating on apping and power/canon point. I have finished through playing III, but debating if I want to take him from then.]
Feast
Yuya leans back, blinking rapidly before he turns to Sora at the same time that he does and they're grinning at each other. Yuya's expression is a little forced at first, but quickly he laughs and it melts to something more genuine. It's kind of funny.]
no subject
And this was fun. Funny, in them both having the same idea, grinning like idiots at each other like this.]
Haa. Guess you had the same idea. Almost reminds me of home. The gummi ship ran on smiles too.
no subject
Gummi ship? [He tilts his head as he reaches blinding for one of the earned plates.] There's a ship that runs on smiles?
[Sounds right up his alley to be honest.]
no subject
[And....well. Donald isn't here to go on at him about the world order or whatever. In complaining that Sora should keep his mouth shut about the Gummi ship and other worlds and all. So Sora doesn't feel like he should keep it that secret, at least so far, as he then also reaches for some food.]
I'm not sure if it is somewhere around here though.
no subject
I haven't seen anything familiar since I got dizzy and stumbled in. Did you steer it here?
[If he was just walking and tripped like everyone else seems to, it's probably back where he left it. Hopefully it won't get stolen.]
no subject
[In which case it. Is probably back where he left it. Along with Donald and Goofy and the others. Still, Sora gives a shrug, and pops some food into his mouth to calm his protesting stomach finally. Or at least to start to do so. He hadn't realized how hungry he was until he smelled the food and came over.]
no subject
Yuya picks at the food on his plate, but finds himself too distracted from his appetite.] How did you find this place?
no subject
[There wasn't much to it. Sora was hungry and had smelled something good. Simple, really. He pauses then, debating how much they might be allowed. If they have to smile again for more.]
no subject
He finally starts to eat off his plate, pausing before perking up.] Oh, it is good!
no subject
Isn't it? This is really nice.
[The food. This place was kind of strange, but. Not the weirdest place he had been to either.]
Communication
You look like you could use some Tech Support.
no subject
[Sora gives a shrug and almost apologetic smile as he rubs at the back of his head with his free hand not using the watch.]
no subject
You've got it. One of my friends is an expert. I could help you with the basics pretty easily. At least you've figured out how to move the camera away from your face.
no subject
[Considering his option with if he doesn't know how to fix technology is just to smack/break it......
He really isn't great with it. Obviously.]
no subject
[She smiles, back tracking a bit now.]
What's Radiant Garden like? Sounds like a place that would be pretty.
no subject
[Even Sora can agree on that much. Even if he might take a bit in figuring out how to use the watch properly. Still, he'll manage. If he has the time and people willing to help him initially at least.]
It is! I haven't been in a bit but. I have a few friends that live there and they've been working hard to restore the place again.
no subject
If they were ANYWHERE on Earth, Player probably would have hacked her watch by now.]
So, two questions then. [She pauses, realizing something.] Three questions. And then you can ask me three, okay?
[She ticks off the questions as she asks them.] One, what's your favorite place to be outside -- are you a woodsy, beach, or mountain type, that kind of thing. Two, what's the number one thing to see in this Radiant Garden place. And three, what is your name? [She smiles sheepishly at that last one.] I forgot to ask.
no subject
[And ah. Sora gives a sheepish chuckle at that too, in realizing they had skipped introductions somehow.]
I'm Sora.
no subject
[And after she'd found out more about what really happened on those Islands it had soured her a bit to beach vacations. At least, they weren't the dream vacation that most other people envisioned.]
Castles are fun. I actually haven't visited too many of those yet.
no subject
[They were....so carefree back then. And all together. It hurts, and is so nostalgic to remember those times. Still, he tilts his head slightly when she mentions not having been to castles before.]
I hadn't been to any back on the Islands either. But I traveled a lot, so. I got to see all kinds of different w- er, places.
no subject
[Carmen sounds a little wistful. She'd been the only child on the island with a bunch of adults and older teens growing up. They'd kept her entertained, but it wasn't the same as having a true playmate as she'd discovered when she'd finally been allowed to join the others like Graham.
Of course, if there had been others, it might have been harder for her to leave.]
Sounds like we might have a lot in common then, Sora. I travel to see a lot of different places now too.
no subject
[Maybe she hadn't literally gone to other worlds like he had, but still. It could be interesting all the same to hear about it. He's still curious regardless, in asking about it. The places she might have been.]
no subject
[She only asks because someone else on the Network had specified he was from Earth and hinted that there were people here who might not even know that planet, let alone those specific continents.]
no subject
[Which is to say, yeah. Sora's been to various Worlds and all but. Never specifically Earth, those countries. So he's curious and tilting his head at this.]
