WORLD INFO:WHEN YOU WAKE UP | LOCALITIES | JUMP SUMMARY
AU INFO: AU QUESTIONS, CLASSES, RACES, STEP BY STEP CHARACTER BUILD GUIDE

When you wake up, you are in a room. It looks to be relatively well-decorated, rustic. The bed is comfortable, the linens clean, and the quilt is nice. You can hear the bustle of people outside. The city is beginning to wake. You do not have the opportunity to look into a mirror, or anything else: there's bang on the door.

"Oi! Breakfast is bein' served! Get your asses up or you're not eatin'!"

Coming outside the room reveals that you seem to be in an inn. There are dozens of rooms along the halls, and a massive eating space below. There are wall to wall tables stacked with food, drink, and people sitting down to eat. They may look strange and unique to some of you. There are people with elongated ears, talking dragon-folk, bird-people, and regular humans. It's a diverse crowd, boisterous and loud, laughing and joking.

Before you can really catch your bearings, a friendly dwarvish woman bustles past, calling over her shoulder: "Never been to Mirabar, have you?"

WHEN YOU WAKE UP.
Welcome to Faerun! A mythical land full of magic, swordsmanship, and adventure. It is a massive continent. You will be landing in a small portion of it -- a city known as Mirabar which is set along a river. Mirabar is the central hub for forging and welding, and it is a walled city with many military members. It is the home of fantastic craftsmanship and metal-working, which means weaponry is bought and sold here. If you know where to look.

Most of the people in Mirabar are wholly unsurprised at the concept of travelers. You blend right in. Rather than put off, they’re excited that you’re here. Tourism has slowed considerably due to the fighting with the Giant-kind in the south. Most of their adventurers and military folk have already left to subdue the problem. As a result, Mirabar has become woefully slow and sluggish. Right at a time when the city is supposed to be gearing up for their summer festival. New people means coin to be made. So expect the locals to be super excited to greet you!

Speaking of being the new people in town, some of you may have made a noticeable transition. Some of you look wholly different. And all of you have weird new abilities.

Buckle up, Travelers. It’s DND AU time:
Your Astoria-granted powers will NOT be working. Your canon powers will NOT be working.

Instead, you are all now fully-fledged adventurers that adhere to the setting. Look at the following resources to help you develop your character.
PICK A CLASS
PICK A RACE
STEP BY STEP CHARACTER BUILD GUIDE
You will take on the physical traits of your new race. Elvish ears, dwarven beards, drow coloration, dark vision. It’s getting mythical in here.

You will take on the unique characteristics of your class and race. Are you a dragon-born? You now speak Draconic! Elf? Elvish is now in your repertoire. The language will come easily and naturally to you.

You are all going to be capped to level five. Therefore, your abilities cannot exceed level five! Sorry, power-gamers -- everybody is on the same playing field, here.

You may multi-class, but you will still be capped at level five. For example: So you can have three levels of druid and two levels of paladin, but your levels cannot exceed five.

Homebrews will not be allowed. Again, to keep everyone on the same playing field, and following the same criteria.

However, the Blood Hunter class listed in the resource is available for selection. It's technically Critical Role-branded homebrew, but it has a set character sheet and a standard set of bonuses available for everyone to use.

Dungeons & Dragons characters (looking at you, Critical Roles) can regain their regular classes (homebrew or not, capped to level five) or pick entirely new classes/races. It’s up to you! However, you will still be capped to level five.

Any magical weaponry or magical items will be functional here! Remember, your canon powers will not be working. If you need your canon powers to make your “magical weaponry” work, it will still not work. For example, Sailor Moon’s disguise pen would work, but her transformation wand would not.
For the most part, you will blend into the general setting of Mirabar. Your clothing will match those of a basic traveler, you will receive the basic weaponry of your class, and you will even get some armor! It's like you woke up in Mirabar already living there... weird.

That means you can get right to work, of which there is plenty.

MIRABAR: A CITY IN NEED
As mentioned above, the majority of Mirabar's soldiers and adventurers have been dispersed to assist in the quelling of Giant rebellions in a different area of the continent of Faerun. As a result, the city (which normally sees a lot of travelers around this time of year) is sleepier than usual. They need a desperate influx of coin, and are overjoyed to see so many new people at their shores. They want to take your money, put you to work, and are eagerly anticipating their annual summer festival-- which happens to be coming up in a matter of weeks.

The darkness in Mirabar is of a very basic nature. They don’t have enough people to get out of this economic slump or help them turn a profit in this dark time. In other words: if your characters don’t get involved, Mirabar (and, by extension, Faerun) will fail.

Throughout the duration of this world there will be a task board, full of things to do that will earn you coin. The success of Mirabar/Faerun will depend on your participation in this world. The modteam will be keeping track of activity throughout the duration of the world via a section on this post where characters can link their activity that bolsters Mirabar.

MOD QUESTIONS whatever specifics, mechanics, plots, etc you need to ask about.

AREAS OF INTEREST is where you can comment to explore any of the aspects of the town. We ask that you specify what you are looking into or what you would like your characters to figure out, as well as how your character will be looking into it.

COMPLETED TASKS is where you can submit your work. Complete a task? Link it below! Volunteer in a bar for a night? Link it below! Offer to help a struggling fisherman or a farmer with their daily work? Link it below! Slay a monster that was stealing a farmer’s sheep? Link it below! You get the point.

LOCALITIES.
Mirabar is a smaller city Faerun, but it has a rich history, a long-suffering head of state who employs adventurers on the regular, and the eager people here to meet you, employ you, and entertain you.

There are be taverns to frequent, inns to stay in, a guild to pick up adventuring jobs, farm work, mining work, welding work. The most desperate thing that Mirabar needs is for people to lend a hand. It may not be the most exciting job, but it will be appreciated.
The Silver Blade is an adventuring guild is operated by a plethora of folks, but the elvish woman at the counter seems to be the one in charge. A series of tasks will be available for you to take up, ranging from deliveries through dangerous parts of the outskirts of town, to slaying monsters. The woman seems to be willing to pay in coin, so long as you bring back what she asks for. She doesn't tolerate nonsense. She will be an NPC to interact with in the log.

The Dusty Coffer is a tavern that looks to be rough-and-tumble, but full of good food, good drink, and good music. There’s a bard that lingers in the back who is willing to take on new students/performers, and can pay, too! You can get any range of fare here, and while it’s not a five-star establishment, the food and drink is delicious.

The Blacksmith’s Burden doubles as a mine and a blacksmith’s forge. You can put in a day’s hard work here and buy weaponry. On one hand, you can learn how to make your own stuff! On the other hand, you can totally just buy stuff. They also sell basic tinkering tools and other materials to forge your own equipment. The entire establishment is run by an eager young half-elf named Dillon. He's missing two fingers. It was probably an accident.

The Heroes' Hearth is the neighborhood inn, specifically designed to tailor to adventurer's! It is the main hub of where the Circle will be staying. You will need to pay for your rooms. They're cheap, but the keeper of the Heroes' Hearth (a delightful dwarvish woman named Hilda) is a strict mistress. She expects proper payment when payment is due! She is also a wonderful cook, and will feed you until you explode.

➜ There is a library, full of texts concerning the history of Mirabar and Faerun. There is also a fishing yard by the river. It is full of little boats and leather-strapped kayaks, which transport goods in and out of the city. There are also shops to purchase clothing, basic tools, and ingredients for spellcraft.

➜ It's a robust city with a focus on steel weaponry. You won't find a lot of magical weaponry, but you may get lucky at the Widow's Weep. It is a weird little thrift store run by an eccentric dragonborn who seems to have a lot of broken magical wares. They're cheap, but may not work correctly.
There’s a ton to do, and the people of Mirabar are inclined to help you get settled in (and also help you spend your money).

IN SUMMATION:
➜ You have woken up in the city of Mirabar, on the continent of Faerun. You are lodging in the Heroes' Hearth: a tavern suited for adventurers.

➜ You are now a D&D character, right down to class and race. You are capped at level five. You may multi-class. You may choose any race/species you desire.

➜ Your primary purpose in Mirabar is to spend/earn coin and enjoy the city to ensure that the city has enough money to make it through the harvest season and winter months, given the lack of able hands around due to the Giant rebellion in the South.

➜ Faerun is a pocket-universe. It is not the Mirabar pulled directly out of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Please do not meta-game, because what you know is likely not accurate. ;)

➜ Every character will start with 15 gold. That's a lot of money, in D&D world, but spend it wisely. You do need to pay for your inn lodging, in this world. Hilda doesn't take any shit, guys.

➜ You wake up with an intimate understanding of your abilities/skills. You do not need to learn your spells, nor learn how to wield a sword. You simply know how it is done.

➜ Your magical watches will be working.

➜ You are prohibited from leaving Mirabar, due to the safety concern of the Giant problem surrounding the city. The remaining Guard will not allow you to leave. Don't try it. ;)

➜ Your canon powers will NOT be working. Your Astoria-granted powers will NOT be working. You are now adventurers. However, your magical weaponry from home will be functional, so long as it does not rely on canon powers to make it work.

➜ And, most importantly, have fun. :)

mod note.
This is your world to explore. Ask questions, get involved. Some of the places above has specified the need for player exploration in order to uncover, so please touch on everything you'd like to touch on. We as mods are giving you a setting to play with as you'd like! What happens here in Faerun is entirely based on your character's involvement. There will be plenty to interact with, little background plots to get mixed up in, and a new location to explore. Ask questions! Pull one of us aside for some cool plotting! Figure out what you want to do and how you want to do it, and go.

Reminder: the log for this world jump will be posted April 12th at 9:00 PM EST. This post is purely for plotting, and there's a place below for questions and for the world interactions! Otherwise, feel free to leave a plotting comment below! Find some other Circle Members to explore with!
