welcome to faerun.QUICK LINKS
When you wake up, you are in a room. It looks to be relatively well-decorated, rustic. The bed is comfortable, the linens clean, and the quilt is nice. You can hear the bustle of people outside. The city is beginning to wake. You do not have the opportunity to look into a mirror, or anything else: there's bang on the door. "Oi! Breakfast is bein' served! Get your asses up or you're not eatin'!" Coming outside the room reveals that you seem to be in an inn. There are dozens of rooms along the halls, and a massive eating space below. There are wall to wall tables stacked with food, drink, and people sitting down to eat. They may look strange and unique to some of you. There are people with elongated ears, talking dragon-folk, bird-people, and regular humans. It's a diverse crowd, boisterous and loud, laughing and joking. Before you can really catch your bearings, a friendly dwarvish woman bustles past, calling over her shoulder: "Never been to Mirabar, have you?" WHEN YOU WAKE UP.Welcome to Faerun! A mythical land full of magic, swordsmanship, and adventure. It is a massive continent. You will be landing in a small portion of it -- a city known as Mirabar which is set along a river. Mirabar is the central hub for forging and welding, and it is a walled city with many military members. It is the home of fantastic craftsmanship and metal-working, which means weaponry is bought and sold here. If you know where to look.
Most of the people in Mirabar are wholly unsurprised at the concept of travelers. You blend right in. Rather than put off, they’re excited that you’re here. Tourism has slowed considerably due to the fighting with the Giant-kind in the south. Most of their adventurers and military folk have already left to subdue the problem. As a result, Mirabar has become woefully slow and sluggish. Right at a time when the city is supposed to be gearing up for their summer festival. New people means coin to be made. So expect the locals to be super excited to greet you!
Speaking of being the new people in town, some of you may have made a noticeable transition. Some of you look wholly different. And all of you have weird new abilities.
Buckle up, Travelers. It’s DND AU time:➜ Your Astoria-granted powers will NOT be working. Your canon powers will NOT be working.
➜ Instead, you are all now fully-fledged adventurers that adhere to the setting. Look at the following resources to help you develop your character. ➜ PICK A CLASS ➜ PICK A RACE ➜ STEP BY STEP CHARACTER BUILD GUIDE ➜ You will take on the physical traits of your new race. Elvish ears, dwarven beards, drow coloration, dark vision. It’s getting mythical in here.
➜ You will take on the unique characteristics of your class and race. Are you a dragon-born? You now speak Draconic! Elf? Elvish is now in your repertoire. The language will come easily and naturally to you.
➜ You are all going to be capped to level five. Therefore, your abilities cannot exceed level five! Sorry, power-gamers -- everybody is on the same playing field, here.
➜ You may multi-class, but you will still be capped at level five. For example: So you can have three levels of druid and two levels of paladin, but your levels cannot exceed five.
➜ Homebrews will not be allowed. Again, to keep everyone on the same playing field, and following the same criteria.
➜ However, the Blood Hunter class listed in the resource is available for selection. It's technically Critical Role-branded homebrew, but it has a set character sheet and a standard set of bonuses available for everyone to use.
➜ Dungeons & Dragons characters (looking at you, Critical Roles) can regain their regular classes (homebrew or not, capped to level five) or pick entirely new classes/races. It’s up to you! However, you will still be capped to level five.
➜ Any magical weaponry or magical items will be functional here! Remember, your canon powers will not be working. If you need your canon powers to make your “magical weaponry” work, it will still not work. For example, Sailor Moon’s disguise pen would work, but her transformation wand would not. For the most part, you will blend into the general setting of Mirabar. Your clothing will match those of a basic traveler, you will receive the basic weaponry of your class, and you will even get some armor! It's like you woke up in Mirabar already living there... weird.
That means you can get right to work, of which there is plenty. MIRABAR: A CITY IN NEEDAs mentioned above, the majority of Mirabar's soldiers and adventurers have been dispersed to assist in the quelling of Giant rebellions in a different area of the continent of Faerun. As a result, the city (which normally sees a lot of travelers around this time of year) is sleepier than usual. They need a desperate influx of coin, and are overjoyed to see so many new people at their shores. They want to take your money, put you to work, and are eagerly anticipating their annual summer festival-- which happens to be coming up in a matter of weeks.
The darkness in Mirabar is of a very basic nature. They don’t have enough people to get out of this economic slump or help them turn a profit in this dark time. In other words: if your characters don’t get involved, Mirabar (and, by extension, Faerun) will fail.
Throughout the duration of this world there will be a task board, full of things to do that will earn you coin. The success of Mirabar/Faerun will depend on your participation in this world. The modteam will be keeping track of activity throughout the duration of the world via a section on this post where characters can link their activity that bolsters Mirabar.
➜ MOD QUESTIONS whatever specifics, mechanics, plots, etc you need to ask about.
➜ AREAS OF INTEREST is where you can comment to explore any of the aspects of the town. We ask that you specify what you are looking into or what you would like your characters to figure out, as well as how your character will be looking into it.
➜ COMPLETED TASKS is where you can submit your work. Complete a task? Link it below! Volunteer in a bar for a night? Link it below! Offer to help a struggling fisherman or a farmer with their daily work? Link it below! Slay a monster that was stealing a farmer’s sheep? Link it below! You get the point. LOCALITIES.Mirabar is a smaller city Faerun, but it has a rich history, a long-suffering head of state who employs adventurers on the regular, and the eager people here to meet you, employ you, and entertain you.
There are be taverns to frequent, inns to stay in, a guild to pick up adventuring jobs, farm work, mining work, welding work. The most desperate thing that Mirabar needs is for people to lend a hand. It may not be the most exciting job, but it will be appreciated. ➜ The Silver Blade is an adventuring guild is operated by a plethora of folks, but the elvish woman at the counter seems to be the one in charge. A series of tasks will be available for you to take up, ranging from deliveries through dangerous parts of the outskirts of town, to slaying monsters. The woman seems to be willing to pay in coin, so long as you bring back what she asks for. She doesn't tolerate nonsense. She will be an NPC to interact with in the log.
➜ The Dusty Coffer is a tavern that looks to be rough-and-tumble, but full of good food, good drink, and good music. There’s a bard that lingers in the back who is willing to take on new students/performers, and can pay, too! You can get any range of fare here, and while it’s not a five-star establishment, the food and drink is delicious.
➜ The Blacksmith’s Burden doubles as a mine and a blacksmith’s forge. You can put in a day’s hard work here and buy weaponry. On one hand, you can learn how to make your own stuff! On the other hand, you can totally just buy stuff. They also sell basic tinkering tools and other materials to forge your own equipment. The entire establishment is run by an eager young half-elf named Dillon. He's missing two fingers. It was probably an accident.
➜ The Heroes' Hearth is the neighborhood inn, specifically designed to tailor to adventurer's! It is the main hub of where the Circle will be staying. You will need to pay for your rooms. They're cheap, but the keeper of the Heroes' Hearth (a delightful dwarvish woman named Hilda) is a strict mistress. She expects proper payment when payment is due! She is also a wonderful cook, and will feed you until you explode.
➜ There is a library, full of texts concerning the history of Mirabar and Faerun. There is also a fishing yard by the river. It is full of little boats and leather-strapped kayaks, which transport goods in and out of the city. There are also shops to purchase clothing, basic tools, and ingredients for spellcraft.
➜ It's a robust city with a focus on steel weaponry. You won't find a lot of magical weaponry, but you may get lucky at the Widow's Weep. It is a weird little thrift store run by an eccentric dragonborn who seems to have a lot of broken magical wares. They're cheap, but may not work correctly. There’s a ton to do, and the people of Mirabar are inclined to help you get settled in (and also help you spend your money).
IN SUMMATION:➜ You have woken up in the city of Mirabar, on the continent of Faerun. You are lodging in the Heroes' Hearth: a tavern suited for adventurers.
➜ You are now a D&D character, right down to class and race. You are capped at level five. You may multi-class. You may choose any race/species you desire.
➜ Your primary purpose in Mirabar is to spend/earn coin and enjoy the city to ensure that the city has enough money to make it through the harvest season and winter months, given the lack of able hands around due to the Giant rebellion in the South.
➜ Faerun is a pocket-universe. It is not the Mirabar pulled directly out of the Dungeon Master's Guide. Please do not meta-game, because what you know is likely not accurate. ;)
➜ Every character will start with 15 gold. That's a lot of money, in D&D world, but spend it wisely. You do need to pay for your inn lodging, in this world. Hilda doesn't take any shit, guys.
➜ You wake up with an intimate understanding of your abilities/skills. You do not need to learn your spells, nor learn how to wield a sword. You simply know how it is done.
➜ Your magical watches will be working.
➜ You are prohibited from leaving Mirabar, due to the safety concern of the Giant problem surrounding the city. The remaining Guard will not allow you to leave. Don't try it. ;)
➜ Your canon powers will NOT be working. Your Astoria-granted powers will NOT be working. You are now adventurers. However, your magical weaponry from home will be functional, so long as it does not rely on canon powers to make it work.
➜ And, most importantly, have fun. :)
mod note. This is your world to explore. Ask questions, get involved. Some of the places above has specified the need for player exploration in order to uncover, so please touch on everything you'd like to touch on. We as mods are giving you a setting to play with as you'd like! What happens here in Faerun is entirely based on your character's involvement. There will be plenty to interact with, little background plots to get mixed up in, and a new location to explore. Ask questions! Pull one of us aside for some cool plotting! Figure out what you want to do and how you want to do it, and go.
Reminder: the log for this world jump will be posted April 12th at 9:00 PM EST. This post is purely for plotting, and there's a place below for questions and for the world interactions! Otherwise, feel free to leave a plotting comment below! Find some other Circle Members to explore with!
Finally -- we are nearing our one year anniversary of Acatalepsy being open. We want to thank our playerbase for being so amazing and taking a chance on our little experiment. We hope our worlds continue to excite you, and we hope you stick around for the long-haul. :) Acatalepsy's story is still continuing. ♥
And, last but not least -- Astoria is very excited for you to enjoy your fifth World Jump~ ♥ |

COMPLETED TASKS.
Any level of interaction will do. We want to see how your character is throwing in their lot to assist the people of Mirabar. There is no timelimit on this - you may continually link threads/more than one for the duration of your time in Faerun.
Finally, let people know if you want more help! Consider this a CR building exercise, too. :) Not all tasks can be completed by one person, so let people know if you are open to more threads!

Agent North Dakota
Or rather a Paladin/Ranger combo, who's also a half-elf. He's got pointy-ears y'all! (I'm so excited)
Regardless, this is a whole new ball game for North and I'm eager to have him work his way through it. Especially since fantasy dnd AUs are about as far away as you can get from scifi space wars. Please help him learn about all his cool abilities. He'll heal and protect you in return?
I'm definitely down for taking on tasks and all that fun monster hunting and everything!
zari tomaz
ANYWAY.
Zari is going to be an air gensai cleric with the tempest domain which means she's going to have some storm spells and strong gusts of wind to go along with her healing spells. Her air totem is also going to be working again which means you might see a bit of this until she realizes she doesn't need it.
Zari's going to be fully game to help people out and will be grateful for the slightly more chill world hop (at least from what they can tell for now) but Zari has also been bottling a lot of anger and other not so nice emotions up given how things have been going for her in terms of recent friend losses, so I definitely want to use the external effects of what she's been turned into in order to make her aware of that. She tends to have a history of knowing she's bottling things, but not realizing how much of a pressure cooker she's turning herself into so I do at some point want to let her let off some magical steam, depending on what jobs/challenges they have ahead of them.
But I am also down for the fun, fantasy adventures too, so if you don't want anything to do with all that emotional development and just want to punch some monsters then I am here for that too!

Ruby Rose
She's brand new here but is super eager to help out where ever she can. She's just learned that the last couple missions here haven't gone super well so she'll be careful to watch out for any of her new friends or other people around here.
TLDR: Let this adorable mage girl dork around and help you.

MOLLYMAUK TEALEAF | CRITICAL ROLE
there should be a legal limit for how many times you make the same joke in a day.
So despite having the world at my disposal, Molly is just gonna go back to being the level five tiefling blood hunter he was back when things were simple and he never met the bad end of a leather daddy's glaive and no that's not a euphemism.
This event was MADE for Molly. THE POINT IS TO MAKE MONEY AND SPEND IT? DAMN SON. Molly is very handy during quests even if his powerset is now the running joke of D&D Beyond, but where he shines is his generosity and commitment to overtipping. He will buy the dumbest shit and overpay for it. He will buy people he likes the dumbest shit and overpay for it if he feels so inclined. He'll do circus tricks and fortune readings for extra coin and yes, he will accompany you to fight giants, even if he is not fond of fighting giants after one slammed him face first into the dirt in front of thousands of people.
Also anyone who was decent to him being SUPER UNSURE about the station or who were also out of their depth like him are gonna get "spoiled" and by "spoiled" I mean Molly will be thrilled to help them acclimate and buy them drinks, etc. It's a blessing and also a curse.

Ren Suzugamori (Cardfight!! Vanguard) + Klan Klang (Macross Frontier)
Klan is going to be a Genasi Barbarian, specifically an Earth Genasi since it's pretty suited to the kind of fighting she prioritises and Barbarian generally fits her canon background of being from a very fighty and war-oriented race. As such, Klan is definitely going to be more on the questing and fighting dangerous shit side of the equation when it comes to helping the town.

Mettaton | Undertale
Being human is, surprisingly, going to require some stumbling around to get used to. He has never owned a body quite like it. He's only ever been things that don't require eating, sleeping, tasting, breathing, heart-beating, feeling, and other such basic human requirements. Nonetheless, I promise he'll be an incredible sport about it. Just anticipate that he'll start pointing out the oddest of organic phenomena. He'll forget to catch a breath between lyrics to a song. He'll eat himself sick to experience flavor and not understand how that happened. (At first, flavor might just overwhelm his palate.) The list goes on. All of these experiences are gonna be great in his eyes, even when they're not. I'm probably going to place him as a bard to continue to be nice to him for once, but I'm open to suggestions here.
When he hears that making/spending money is the name of the game good god... He'll start finding unorthodox methods of generating funds and he'll start playing the spend big/earn bigger game. He'll probably work himself to exhaustion, not knowing his human limits. This is just fine.
The long and short of it is that Mettaton the human bard is going to be really new to everything but his class. But he's excited to be here and generating profit is his middle name. He'll spend a lot of his time performing wherever he can, sure, but he'll also be taking up plenty of jobs wherever he can get them. He'll fight giants! He'll do dangerous things! Whatever can do to earn big, fast. He might push it both in health and in safety, however, so having somebody reign in an overconfident bard will likely be in order.

Ritsu Kageyama | Mob Psycho 100
The class combination means he will have a familiar through which his dadly patron angel outsider will speak to him! ...His general edginess means he and his bird will not get along at all! So if anyone is interested in jamjar pet shenanigans but with a goofy-looking hawk acting out in order to get his warlock's attention, hmu :|b
Beyond that, once he's over the initial what-the-fuck he will be extremely happy to commit violence for fun and profit, so he'll tag along with whoever else is into that (and possibly be too reckless about it because this is still the mind of a 13-year-old, oops). He'll take other jobs that don't require him to take his hood off too, he'll just be most enthusiastic about the ones involving acceptable punching bags.

Yuya Sakaki | Yugioh Arc-V
This is his first world jump, but he'll probably be okay once he has a minute to realize they're basically playing adventurer. This is much less impending than, like, stopping a war. He can have fun with this (until he feels bad about having fun when he assumes his family back home is worried about where he went, somebody tell him time isn't linear).
He's gonna be a huge weenie about any tasks that require murdering anything but otherwise he's pretty much game for anything. He'll be pretty initiative if someone needs to get dragged into participating, or need to add an extra body to their task.
Erica's Crew: Hunk, Maes Hughes, Carmen Sandiego
Since he is already a healer the rest of the time, Hunk's getting tossed into the fighting class whether he likes it or not: HUNK THE MONK is coming at you with all THREE FEET OF FURY.
Wait...what?
So Hunk may be a monk of the Sun Soul tradition, but I also wanted to make at least one of mine a shorty so Hunk will be a rock gnome for the duration of his time in Faerun. As always Hunk will be as helpful as he can, but you may need to be patient as he adjusts to being half his normal height. Other than that his appearance doesn't change too drastically as far as skin tones and hair color: he does get some cool pointy ears though and his hair seems to now be constantly messy.
IDK if gnomes generally become monks, but I couldn't drop the idea of Hunk the Monk so we're going with it.Maes Hughes | FMA
Apparently hanging out with all the shapeshifters has caught up with Maes because he gets to become a Shifter -- specifically of the Longtooth variety (he'll have wolf-like features). His appearance is going to change fairly drastically as he slims down a bit and becomes more hairy (including the hair on his head having grown longer as well). He will no longer need his glasses while he is here, which is good because they wouldn't really fit his new facial structure anyway (flat nose, large eyes pointed ears). He also has a nice set of fangs and his claws are about as sharp as the daggers he used to carry.
Strangely enough, despite the teeth and claws, Maes's class will be a Bard, specifically one following the College of Swords. While he doesn't have much need for blades, he can be found working on more knife tricks with his daggers and maybe he'll even find he's suddenly a bit more adept at music.
Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon indeed.Carmen Sandiego | Carmen Sandiego 2019
While Carmen will be remaining a Rogue (because let's face it that is SO MUCH her character) she will be transforming in a different way. Carmen will be a Tabaxi rouge. I figure since she's from Argentina she will need a cat that hails from South America, most of Carmen's features will now resemble a Melanistic jaguars or black panther.
PinkRed Panther in this case as Carmen isn't going anywhere without that signature coat.Carmen will do her best not to make a ton of cat burglar puns and mostly be grateful she isn't tiger-themed.
---
All of mine are keen to help however they can, I spent all this time coming up with race/class I haven't even thought about plots yet. BRING ME ALL THE PLOTS.

Updated Info
Angel | Borderlands
They do have a DnD equivalent in her world called Bunkers and Badasses, so she'll be reminded of that!
She'll be afraid of hurting people with her newfound powers, but will still want to help others out on their adventures
killua zoldyck | hunter x hunter
despite being distrustful, he's already soft on his current friends, since Killua... you know, wants those in his life, so he'll be willing to help out whoever's made a positive impression on him. he'll probably be focusing on getting money and items, as in canon, he's been through something kind of similar, with less weird race change shit happening. so he's gonna be treating this like a game, probably, especially after a talk he had with hisoka.
also, killua isn't above doing dirty work. jfyi. no real plans for any plot stuff, since killua is so new!
Nate Heywood | DC's Legends of Tomorrow
That being said, he is going to be a bard because Nate is a historian and someone who believes deeply in the power of stories and music and so it's a pretty perfect fit. He's also going to be a half-elf because elves are generally known for their beauty and good looks and one of Nate's teammates calls him "Pretty". Beyond that I still need to hash out a little more details.
He's used to being more of a hit things with raw strength person more than a magic user so it'll be a fun shakeup for him.
He will be very keen to help people on their adventures and make the most of this because omg it's so cool guys!!!!

I’m considering just AUing the warlock thing as a semi-parallel to canon, wherein he formed a pact with something to be determined that promised to cure an analogous terminal condition to the one the original human Simon died from. they are not likely to be getting into any fights and will be using less traditional methods to befriend Everything and Everyone they can. they here for a good time AND a long time, so everyone: stay back
they have no idea what any of this is but they love monsters and will be really excited to see all the different races... they're about to have the time of their lives, i won't lie.
Vex'ahlia ➵ Critical Role
The realm of Exandria is alike but different to Faerun, and Vex has never heard of Mirabar -- but she's certainly worked in the like before. Anyone who's feeling a bit lost, or worried someone is trying to stiff them on pricing, feel free to ask her for help! While her Astoria-granted money powers are null and void (curses!!), her considerable haggling skills are all her own. I'm also swapping the Outlander background for Noble here, meaning Lady Vex'ahlia won't hesitate to lean on at least one of her actual titles for the benefit of the Circle. (Mostly herself and Percy, probably.)
Job board postings are old hat. She'll be looking to cut deals wherever she goes, put to practice this shooting thing Percy makes look so easy, and stock up on some staples she's familiar with where possible: LOTS of arrows (for when they return to the Temple), perhaps some potions, and enough coin to maaaaybe cover the cost of a bag of holding? Who can say..

allura >> voltron
If that makes any sense.
I'm uncreative and her appearance isn't going to change much, minus the fact that she's going to look unearthly as her eyes will be white and pearlescent, there will be a very faint outline of a glowing halo over her head, and on her back will be white feathers from where wings will sprout when she gains the ability of Radiant Soul at level 3
She is 100% going to occupy herself with running quests, and her ever-present animal companion Platt will be..... a mouse as always lmao.
Konoha | JINBA
She will be very amazed by the two-leggedness of it all and probably be distracted by that for a little while before she realizes she can also shapeshift into animals, which will be. Wild.
Her looks will be exactly the same from the waist up so it will be very obviously Konoha. Just a not-centaur Konoha.
Gonna play it fast and loose but lemme know if you want to do anything in particular! She is no adventurer but she's glad that at least this world's level of tech makes sense to her.
